Natural toys and creative pastimes
for children and their families

Wonderment offers seasonally inspired craft classes for children and adults. Stop by our shop on any Saturday and you will probably find a group of parents and children busy, learning a new skill.

The philosophy behind these craft offerings is inspired by the curriculum of the Waldorf schools our children have attended. We focus on skill building rather than the end result, deepening our experience of the season, and fostering a sense of pride in creating a beautiful and useful object. Working with natural materials along with gentle guidance in color selection and technique helps the child develop their aesthetic sensitivity. Repetitive skills such as knitting, crochet, and cross-stitch develop the child’s will as well as improving finger dexterity and concentration.

In addition, handcrafts serve as an antidote to our high-tech and fast paced lives. We have found handwork to be one of the nicest ways to spend time with children, allowing meaningful conversation and relaxation. It is our fondest hope that after completing a class with us, you and your child will go home and continue creating, maybe even teaching your new skill to other family members. After a class with us, we will offer you ongoing support and advise in your future projects.

Our class schedule is published seasonally, three a year. Schedules are available at the store, by mail or email and can be downloaded from our website. Our Winter 2010 Class Schedule is available in store or downloadable by clicking on the link on this page.
